Welcome to science! My name is Mrs. Cory, and I am excited to meet you (incoming 4th graders) and see you again (incoming 5th graders)! We are going to have so much fun learning, discovering, and exploring in science this year. We will start with getting to know each other and learning our classroom procedures, then we will move on to scientific tools and discovery. After that, we will start our science units using Twig, Mystery Science, and other curriculum. Hands-on learning and project-based learning will be emphasized. Let's discover together!
Students will learn in the science lab two times per week for 50 minute periods. Hands-on instruction/discovery and project-based learning will be emphasized however, students will also learn to read scientific material with a focus on comprehension and analysis. Scientific vocabulary will be taught through hands-on mini-lessons. Games and interactive learning will also help students gain the foundational skills they need to understand our world.
